Staff Biography

Anthony Orji is a Ph.D holder in Economics and a lecturer at the Department of Economics, University of Nigeria Nsukka. He is equally an Alumnus of the African Programme on Rethinking Development Economics (APORDE), Johannesburg, South Africa and a former Visiting Scholar to the University of Laval, Quebec, Canada. He has published widely and attended several professional conferences. He is a network member of many research organisations across the globe and has participated in several research projects funded by the following institutions: World Bank (Research on African Migration Project); Partnership for Economic Policy (PEP), University of Laval, Quebec-Canada; African Economic Research Consortium (AERC), Nairobi-Kenya, Centre for Environmental Economics and Policy in Africa (CEEPA) South Africa; African Export and Import (AFREXIM) Bank; GIZ, Germany and many others. His research interests is in Development Economics, Macroeconomics, Monetary Economics, Finance and Resource Mobilization, Cross border flows and Trade, Public Sector Economics, Growth and Poverty Reduction, Gender Economics and Regional Integration and he has published in these areas.  As a sound intellectual, Dr. Orji won the Vice Chancellor’s Award for the best Ph.d in the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 2014 and he also won the Vice Chancellor’s award as one of the best three Ph.d graduates in the same year. In the past he had served and also currently serves in different committees of the Department of Economics and Faculty of the Social Sciences including, Chairman, departmental committee on ICT and Facility Management (2013-Date); Secretary, departmental committee on Welfare (2012- Date); Member, departmental Committee on Examinations and Records (2012-2013); Member, Departmental Post Graduate board; Chairman, Faculty Committee on E-Learning/ICT (2016-Date);            Member, Faculty Committee on Sports ( 2012-2014); Member; Faculty Committee on E-Learning (2014-date); Member, Faculty Committee on University Fellowships, Grants and Linkage/Exchange Programmes (2014-date); Member, Faculty Committee on Environment (2016-Date);        Member, Faculty Committee on Social Science Statistics (2016-Date); Faculty of Social Sciences Webmaster (2014-Date).
